Bharat Bijlee Crane Motor IE2 & IE3

Overview

Crane and Hoist duty motors from Bharat Bijlee are ideal for frequent starts/stops and reversing. They are also used for applications such as material handling, weirs and sluices, lifts of all types and auxiliary motors in rolling-mills or wherever intermittent drives are required. They conform to IS : 325 for Three-phase Induction Motors and IS 4722 for Rotating Electrical Machines. The size of the motor is governed by the mechanical effects of starting and braking functions, the type of control and the number of switching’s per hour. The rated output, the number of starts/hour and the inertia (i.e. load GD2 + rotor GD2) are interdependent.

Additional Features

Very high no. of switching: These motors are suitable for very high numbers of switching, i.e., 900 starts/stop per hour, including inching and plugging.
Special winding & impregnation: The stators are wound with Dual Coated (DC) winding wires as per IS 13730 part 13, and the winding is impregnated with VPI process, improving the thermal withstand capacity of the motor.
Robust construction: Shaft material is given special heat treatment to withstand high intermittent load. These motors have special squirrel cage die-cast rotors, ensuring minimum maintenance and trouble-free operation.
Forced cooling: Ensures continuous cooling of the motor.
Built-in thermal protection: Thermal protection is provided by embedding thermostats in the winding. This ensures protection against failure due to excessive heating caused by severe starting duty, single phasing, overloading, low voltage, etc.
Compact design: Compact in size, as the auxiliary fan motor used for forced cooling is an integral part of the main motor.
